Sam's Club hosting emergency preparedness activities
Sam's Club of Grand Island is helping members of the community prepare for emergencies and disasters as part of a 114-store campaign next week.

In-store events have been organized to feature plans, projects and packages that could help local residents prepare for and survive disasters.

Local emergency groups will be on hand to assist individuals and businesses with their disaster plans. Sam's Club members and nonmembers are welcome to participate, although purchases by nonmembers will be subject to service fees.

Each day's presentation will focus on a different aspect of emergency preparedness. Monday focused on police, fire and emergency medical services. Other topics this week:

* Tuesday: medical and CERT.

* Wednesday: utilities and shelter.

* Thursday and Friday: food and water.

* Saturday and Sunday: kits and family emergency planning.
