TWO COMPANIES JOIN THE
CHESAPEAKE INNOVATION CENTER

ANNAPOLIS, MD (January 22, 2008) - - - MGB Ltd. Spearhead Innovations (www.spearheadinnovations.com) and OnLine LinkUp (www.onlinelinkup.com) have become member companies of the Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC), Anne Arundel County’s business accelerator for homeland and national security. MGB has developed a handheld inspection device for sealed containers. OnLine LinkUp develops affinity networking web sites for a variety of organizations.

“The Chesapeake Innovation Center is a valuable resource for technology companies interested in doing business with the homeland security market,” said Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold. “I am happy to welcome these two entrepreneurs to the CIC.”

MGB, a CIC Resident Member Company, has developed the Product Acoustic Signature System (PASS), a portable hand held unit and the Hazardous/Incendiary Liquid Detection Apparatus (HILDA), a desk top version of its patented acoustic technology for non-intrusive inspection, rapid identification and measurement of liquids and bulk-solids in sealed containers. Rapid inspection of sealed containers such as shipping barrels, tanker trucks, rail tanker cars, and bottles carried by passengers, commuters and employees is a critical task for personnel charged with ensuring national security, maintaining public safety, and enforcing government policies. PASS has been deployed worldwide to meet this need for both commercial and government clients. As a CIC Resident Member Company, MGB will receive access to the CIC Partners, assistance with business strategy toward product commercialization, access to funding opportunities and sources of capital, and mentoring from subject matter experts. MGB, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, was a participant in the CIC’s TechBridge Program in July of 2007.

OnLine LinkUp, a CIC Affiliate Member Company with temporary office space at the CIC, is building a global social networking website system for businesses and individuals. Each website is targeted to a specific community and connected by a single sign-on structure to the other websites in the system. User friendly software allows for the creation of dynamic online communities where connections can be made with people who share similar interests. The company is currently developing a homeland and national security product to facilitate communication and collaboration among geographically dispersed communities of security personnel. OnLine LinkUp will receive services from the CIC that include access to potential government, defense contractors and military buyers and assistance with product development. OnLine LinkUp relocated from Pennsylvania after contacting the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation and the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development for assistance.

“With the addition of MGB and OnLine LinkUp, the CIC continues to build its base of strong technology innovators,” said Robert L. Hannon, president and CEO of the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation. “The CIC’s new Affiliate Member program allows companies that do not require office space to also benefit from the services that the CIC provides.” Currently, the CIC has six Resident and seven Affiliate Member Companies.
